A career in mortgage financing has proved to be the perfect fit for Rick Harrington because it combines his two interests: real estate and finance.
Throughout college, Harrington worked as an assistant to a top loan officer at a mortgage company in the Newton and Boston areas. Today, 16 years later, his expertise is in condo financing, including new construction and conversions. As an originating manager for Guaranteed Rate Affinity, he assists a wide range of buyers, including first-time, move-up and luxury buyers; investors; and corporate relocation clients. “I enjoy helping corporate clients who are looking to coordinate large group moves,” he says, adding that he often works with clients who are relocating from other parts of the country and are unfamiliar with the Boston market. “This challenges me to find a loan product that provides the flexibility necessary to help them get into the right property.”
Committed to being responsive throughout the process, Harrington’s goal is to get the client from preapproval to closing as seamlessly and efficiently as possible. “I have a consultative approach,” he says. “I listen to the client to find out what they really need and match them with the product best suited for them.” Year after year, he has continuously increased his business in the competitive Boston market with the help of his strong team, which he describes as the perfect blend of thorough, friendly, detail-oriented, timely, available and execution-focused.
A consistent recipient of the company’s President’s Club award and named among the top 1 percent of originators in the country by Scotsman Guide, Harrington continues to be in awe of the many hard-working people he helps secure loans for on a daily basis.
