19-story residential building proposed for Huntington Avenue site

by Liz Hughes

Developers are hoping to redevelop a five-story apartment building on Huntington Avenue into a 19-story building with 153 units.

409 Huntington LLC and its affiliate, Tremont Asset Management LLC, filed a letter of intent with the Boston Planning & Development Agency on Aug. 5 for the redevelopment of 409 Huntington Ave. and 238-240 Hemenway St. in the city’s Fenway neighborhood. According to the filing, the applicants have continuously owned and operated the site through various affiliates for more than 50 years.

Located within the portion of Huntington Avenue known as the Avenue of the Arts, the existing five-story apartment building will be redeveloped into a 19-story building with up to 153 units. The facade of the existing building will remain but be modified to accommodate up to 2,350 square feet of new street-level retail access and ADA accessibility. Additionally, the project will include improvements to the underdeveloped pocket park at the corner of the site along Huntington Avenue.

The project will also include 40 on-site parking spaces and a fully automated parking system, as well as a bicycle storage and repair center, a fitness center, outdoor space on the sixth floor, a rooftop pool, a shared open workspace and a business facility.

There are people in need of apartments. The college students don’t deserve to have it. The colleges need to stop excepting student’s that there no room for them. Another thing students who live an hour and a half need to commute in. The students have know right to push people out of their housing. There taking over Boston and it needs to stop. Bring back family’s and get rid of the college students.
