This Week in Boston Real Estate: Neighbors to the Scarlett O’Hara House are on the market, upcoming developments and more

The 1,795 square-foot townhouse at 3 Rollins Place in Beacon Hill is on the market. The brick fixer-upper home with history dated back to 1843, is best well-known for being next to the Scarlett O’Hara House, a three-dimensional painting to hide the brick wall. The home is being listed through the Biega + Kilgore Team for $1.475 million. The single-family home has four levels plus a basement and a private patio.

In other Boston recent news:

  • Thursday morning marked the start of construction for Herring Brook Hill, a senior housing project on the site of the former police station at 40 River St. Approved in 2015, the finished building will have 18 units consisting of low-to-moderate priced housing and the required income levels for people wishing to move in are determined by the state and federal government.
  •  Janelle Chan was named the undersecretary for Housing and Community Development by The Baker administration on Thursday, overseeing the states affordable housing programs, community service and assistance for homeless people. Chan has been the chief of real estate at the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority since 2016, and prior spent nearly a decade at the Asian Community Development Corp.
  • Congress Group is launching sales of a boutique condo project, the second of two developments in process. Congress hired Compass to handle the sales of Opus Bay Harbor, a seven-unit, eight-story building planned for 10301 East Bay Harbor Drive. The condos will feature four-bedroom units with a den, ranging from 4,225 square feet to 5,000 square feet with prices from about $4.4 million to $6.4 million. The units are expected to be occupied by 2020 according to a press release.
  • Plans for a 74-home residential development near Boston on Station Road, Swineshead was approved by Boston Borough Council this week despite objections. A mixture of homes have been proposed by developer Ashwood Homes, including 11 two-bedroom units, 55 three-bedroom units and eight four-bedroom units.
