As a private mortgage banker with M&T Bank, Michael Vautour is passionate about helping clients achieve homeownership while developing lifelong relationships throughout the mortgage experience. “Buying a home is one of the largest life decisions one can make, and I am honored to be a part of that experience, navigating them through the complex mortgage process,” Vautour explains.
With over 16 years of experience in the industry, Vautour specializes in home and condo financing, jumbo and portfolio loans and first-time homebuyers throughout Greater Boston and in all 50 states. Within his first year at M&T he became the No. 1 mortgage originator at the bank. He has helped over 400 families and has issued over $500 million in mortgages, $260 million of which was in 2025.
A member of the M&T Bank Chairman’s Club from 2023-2025, Vautour has been named the No. 1 Bank Loan Officer and No. 3 Loan Officer in Massachusetts by Banker & Tradesman. He is also among the Top 1% of mortgage originators in the country by Scotsman Guide since 2020. Prior to M&T, he earned President’s Club membership at Wells Fargo — a top-performer designation at the company — for five years running from 2019-2022. Throughout his years in the industry, he’s helped over 2,800 families with their mortgages, issuing over $1.6 billion in mortgage volume. He could not achieve this level of success without the support of his dedicated operations team, assistants Ben Rabinowitz and Chelsea Douglas and his M&T management team.
A South Boston resident for the past decade, Vautour enjoys spending time with his wife, Lily; two daughters. Gwen and Rosie; and Tibetan Terrier, Harvey. A few of his passions are supporting the Pan Mass Challenge, cooking and hitting the bag at his local boxing gym, Everybody Fights.
