by Elizabeth Kanzeg Rowland

Fall is officially here, bringing with it all things cozy. The season provides a perfect opportunity to enjoy comforting foods and drinks, like apple cider and donuts, and spend time enjoying the beauty of nature. A new study named Boston one of the top ten coziest cities in the nation. Qualities like walkability and the city’s charming academic vibe helped boost Boston to the top.

Using data from sources including the U.S. Census Bureau and TripAdvisor, PrivacyJournal ranked American metros based on coziness indicators like accessibility of walking trails, number of coffee shops and bookstores and availability of cozy activities like painting workshops or cooking classes.

Boston placed No. 9 in the nation for walkability and natural beauty. Plus, the city offered plenty of comforting dining options and cozy coffee shops. The city ranked 9th place overall.

“The city’s walk-friendly neighborhoods, from Beacon Hill‘s gas-lit streets to Cambridge‘s academic atmosphere, create naturally cozy environments steeped in history and community tradition,” said Privacy Journal analysts. “The city’s compact size and extensive public transit make it easy to discover cozy corners throughout different neighborhoods, while its many colleges ensure a steady supply of coffee shops, study spots and creative venues that serve both students and long-term residents.”

For homebuyers looking for a cozy city to call home, Boston might be the perfect fit.
