Flannery of ERA Key Receives Commonwealth Heroine Award

by Liz Hughes

Donna Flannery, an agent in ERA Key Realty Services Spencer office has received the Commonwealth Heroine Award from the Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women (MCSW). Flannery was given the award on June 23 at a ceremony at the Massachusetts State House.

The award is given to women who make outstanding contributions to their organizations and their communities. The commission partners with state legislators and encourages them to submit a candidate from their constituency to recognize their efforts and acts of service.

“Thousands of women in every community across the Commonwealth perform unheralded acts on a daily basis that make our homes, neighborhoods, cities and towns better places to live,” said MCSW chairwoman Dr. Sarah Glenn-Smith. “Commonwealth Heroines use their time, talent, spirit and enthusiasm to enrich the lives of others in their community. They are mentors, volunteers and innovators — they are the glue that keeps a community together.”

Earlier this year, Flannery received a distinguished alumni award from David Prouty High School and has been the recipient of several real estate sales and community service awards.

A Realtor for 30 years, Flannery was nominated this year for the ERA Real Estate’s Jim Jackson Award, which recognizes the top agent, team or company providing the best customer service throughout ERA Real Estate. This was the second time Flannery was nominated for that award.

“Donna epitomizes ERA Key’s values,” said ERA Key President and COO Cheryl Eidinger-Taylor. “She is consistently among our top-selling agents, but she also contributes to and volunteers her time for many organizations. It’s good to see her being recognized for her hard work and dedication.”

Consistently finishing among ERA Key’s top 10 agents in sales, Flannery has also led ERA Key for number of closed transitions several times. She’s also regularly been named to ERA’s Leader’s Circle, which includes agents who have sold at least 65 units or total volume of at least $10 million for the year.

Before becoming a Realtor, Flannery spent four years as the MLS supervisor for the Greater Worcester Board of Realtors. In 1992, she joined Hometown Real Estate and was its Rookie of the Year. She was the office’s top-selling agent from 1993-1998, finishing each year with the highest number of closed transitions and volume.

Flannery was ERA’s Boston Broker Council Agent of the Year in both 2007 for highest dollar volume for homes sold and largest number of transactions and in 2009 with highest dollar volume and placing second for closed transactions.

Other real estate accolades include ranking No. 33 by Real Trends among the top 50 agents in Massachusetts in 2013 and 2014, as well as receiving the REALTOR® Association of Central Massachusetts’ (RACM) 2020 Emerald Top Producer Award.

Flannery’s community service awards included receiving the town of Spencer Meritorious Public Service Award in 2014 and ERA Key’s Circle of Light Award for exceptional volunteerism for the needy in the community in 2016. In 2007, she was named the Spencer Exchange Club Citizen of the Year for her community volunteer work.

Flannery is also a past president and director of the Spencer Exchange Club, a coordinator of Spencer Toys for Kids since 2004, a member of the Spencer Housing Authority and cooperator at Spencer Savings Bank.

She served as a director and vice president of the Worcester Regional Association of Realtors and as an alternate director of the Massachusetts Association of Realtors. She is certified as an Accredited Buyer Broker and is continuing her education to achieve the Graduate, REALTOR® Institute (GRI) designation, as well as requirements to become a mediation officer for the Massachusetts Association of Realtors.
