Agent Snapshot: Alyson Ferrando, Realtor, William Raveis Real Estate

Name: Alyson Ferrando

Title: Realtor

Company: William Raveis Real Estate

What was your first job in the realty industry? For several years, just prior to becoming an agent, I worked for a creative studio servicing real estate developers, architects, and leasing companies. I was a project coordinator.

Where did you grow up? Stoughton, MA

Growing up, what did you want to be? I wanted to be in advertising in a creative role. I’m very creative, I was always drawing, taking art classes, and very into graphic design as I got older.

What do you do to relax when you’re stressed? As weird as it sounds, clean! It helps me regain control of my life when I get stressed out and I love a clean house. I also like to read and hang out with my three dogs.

If you could have lunch with a well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why? I’ve recently been following Grant Cardone on social media. His rags to (extreme) riches story is inspiring, but I also kind of hate him because he seems like such an arrogant piece of work.

Where is your favorite place to hang out? Probably my back deck with a book in hand, a drink by my side, and a dog at my feet. I like my down time when I’m not working.

What do you love most about the industry? Every day is different! I don’t do the same boring commute every day and eat lunch at the same time. My last job was very tedious on a day to day basis and in real estate, every day is a new adventure. I never know where I will be!

How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents? My personality for sure. I am extremely upbeat and personable when meeting new people on the job. Years in the service industry has taught me how to vibe with all sorts of people and I am able to connect well with new people. You need to like your agent after all!

What is the most difficult aspect of your job? The knockdowns, the rejections, the client who decides they aren’t going to buy after 6 months of looking. You have to develop thick skin.

Where do you go to network and meet new clients? I am terrible at networking for the sake of networking. I don’t go anywhere, but I don’t let my different social networks forget I am a realtor. I meet most new clients through friends or at open houses!

What has been your greatest accomplishment? I had a baby in December of 2016 and raising her full time while also having a successful year of selling homes has been very fulfilling. I love that I have the support to be with her and still do the job I love.

What was the last good movie you saw or book you read? I recently read every book by Karin Slaughter after really enjoying Pretty Girls. Psychological thriller murder mysteries are my favorite!

What is your favorite restaurant? Scarlet Oak Tavern in Hingham, not so much for the food, although they have some incredible seasonal fall menu items right now, but for the interior design and ambiance. I love the old farmhouse style.

Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Boston? I don’t think I have a favorite. I do think the Finch restaurant in the Boxer hotel is pretty cool in where they placed their entrance.

What kind of car do you drive? Hyundai Tuscon

Smartphone or paper? Smartphone, easy to edit on the fly and always on me!

What is your favorite city after Boston? Nashville, TN

In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the industry? You must be self-motivated.

What’s your favorite real estate iPhone/Android app? The only real estate app I use is mobile MLS! I know there are so many great real estate apps and I need to get down loading.

Who are your favorite people to follow on Twitter? I am not on Twitter
