Gibson Sotheby’s International Realty, Back Bay

Michael Egan of Gibson Sotheby’s International Realty.

What was your most interesting job before going into real estate?
I used to work in casting for broadway, television and film.

Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Hopkinton, Massachusetts.

What do you do to relax when you’re stressed?
When I’m stressed, I like to go for a nice long walk with my corgi, Benji.

If you could meet any well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why?
I would love to go back in time to meet Frank Sinatra and sing a duet with him. He has one of my favorite singing voices.

What is Boston’s best-kept secret?
I think Boston’s best kept secret is that the Fluffernutter was invented just north of the city in Somerville. Most people don’t know!

How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents?
I try to learn as much as I can about every neighborhood and borough Boston has, ranging all the way from Brookline and Southie to Dorchester and Charlestown. As each neighborhood grows and changes, I think it’s important to stay up to date on all the happenings in each one. Then I can confidently advise my clients and answer any questions that they may have.

What’s your best advice for generating new leads?
Help other agents whenever you can. You never know who you might meet and end up working with in the future just because you offered a helping hand.

What has been your greatest accomplishment?
I got my real estate license in May of 2026, and honestly, that was a huge accomplishment. I worked really hard to reach that goal and am proud of where I am today. I feel like I can accomplish anything now, and I’m excited for a career in this incredible industry!

What are you binge-watching/reading/listening to lately?
I’m currently binge-watching Friends for probably the millionth time! I love sitcom-style shows.

In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the industry?
You can always learn something new from your colleagues.
