Achieving a 30% growth in business last year, Ryan Van Auken credits his success to his ability to connect with anyone. “Growing up, my parents were church ministers, which taught me the importance of interacting with all types of people,” he explains. “By learning from their example, I pride myself on being able to connect with people of all ages and backgrounds.”
A loan officer with Rate, Van Auken worked in commercial lending before representing residential clients. Given his desire to personally help clients with one of the most important purchases of their lives, mortgages seemed a natural fit. “I’ve always been in sales, which puts a high emphasis on retention and relationships,” he shares. “That helped me realize that there is no such thing as one transaction; it needs to lead to a lasting relationship.” This philosophy has led to his near-perfect record of client retention and a 100% referral-based business.
Recognized for his personability and constant availability, Van Auken treats each of his clients as more than just a number. He consistently stays in touch with past clients and is known for his quarterly events that always keep clients engaged.
Named to the Rate President’s Club for the third consecutive year, Van Auken was recognized as a top originator in 2025 by Scotsman Guide and Mortgage Executive Magazine. In addition, the Massachusetts Mortgage Bankers Association recognized him as one of their rising stars.
Outside of real estate, Van Auken is an active member of his church community, and he considers his relationship with God to be the most important aspect of his life. He enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter and occasionally fits golf into his schedule.
