Born and raised in Suffolk County, Todd Santora became hooked on real estate when he purchased his first condo in 1999. He bought his first investment property in 2001, and shortly after decided to employ himself in real estate full time as a real estate appraiser. He’s now the owner and chief appraiser of Valuations Unlimited, which provides real estate appraisal services for lending institutions, estate attorneys, divorce attorneys and private homeowners.
During his first career in technology sales, Santora established a set of valuable customer service skills that he still uses every day. These skills allow Santora to effectively network with Realtors and industry experts who help provide market data or information on specific sales that are invaluable to the appraisal process. “From the beginning, I understood that behind every appraisal is an individual or family looking to realize their dreams and goals,” he says. “That’s why we provide careful consideration and due diligence into every detail in each of our appraisal reports, fully understanding the impact of our opinions.”
A member of the Massachusetts Board of Real Estate Appraisers and the Greater Boston Association of Realtors, Santora expanded his service area in 2022 to include southern New Hampshire and southern Maine. “Several customers stressed a need for appraisal services in New Hampshire and Maine,” he says. “Luckily, both states allow reciprocity, so I not only obtained my license in both states, but hired staff to help manage the volume from the new revenue sources. It was a huge success that reaped benefits in the second half of 2022, creating an additional revenue stream in a down market.”
In an effort of giving back to his community, Santora also serves as chairman of the planning board in his hometown. He’s currently in his 10th year in the elected position.
