Since entering real estate more than 13 years ago, Andrew McKinney has drawn upon his previous work as an attorney to give him an edge. The skills he developed practicing law — client advocacy, communication, negotiation and analysis — as well as the business acumen he honed while earning an MBA enabled him to thrive during the most-challenging days of the pandemic.
McKinney spent the first 11 years of his real estate career working at a buyer-only brokerage. In 2020 McKinney moved to Donnelly + Co., a boutique firm in Boston’s Back Bay, where he expanded his business to include both sales and rental listings. The switch proved to be a positive one. McKinney has been a top-producing agent in Boston for multiple years in a row, and last year he closed upward of $40 million in sales, making 2021 the best year of his career thus far. “I never expected my business to be this strong, particularly during a pandemic,” he says.
Serving numerous Boston-area locales, McKinney works with clients across multiple market segments with ease, given his personal experience with both city and suburban life in the area. He describes his style as “kind professionalism” and, harkening to his past in law, views his business interactions in terms of him “representing” the client. “My clients know I work my heart out for them and always put their needs first,” he notes. Due largely to his dedication, most of his clients come from referrals and online reviews. Analytical by nature, McKinney stays abreast of market trends in order to maintain an informed, competitive edge that he can deploy on his clients’ behalf.
A fitness enthusiast — McKinney is a former competitive tennis player and instructor — McKinney loves to work out in his free time and support his favorite charities.
