Boston remains one of the hottest housing markets in the U.S.

The Greater Boston housing market remains among the hottest markets in the entire country, according to a new ranking from realtor.com.

Based on demand and inventory, realtor.com ranked Boston the 12th-hottest market in the U.S., with perennial No. 1 San Francisco remaining on top.

Such a ranking is hardly surprising, given our recent reporting on the Greater Boston market. With inventory low and demand high, the median sales price for single-family homes is up 10.8 percent year-over-year, while for condos, price is up 5.3 percent. Even more, time on market for single-family listings is just 56 days (down 12.5 percent from last year), while for condos, it’s down 20 percent to 40 days.
