Danielle Rokosz Real Estate Advisor, Sotheby's International Realty, Falmouth

What was your most interesting job before going into real estate? I worked for Lilly Pulitzer a luxury fashion brand, I was an area manager on Cape Cod. I learned how important the client relationship is and how to work as a team with my staff.

Where did you grow up? Bellingham, MA

Growing up, what did you want to be? Vanna White, I loved her sophistication and her stunning clothes.

What do you do to relax when you’re stressed? Pilates on the reformer, I have been practicing for 15 years, my pilates trio is therapy and a solid work out all in one. My instructor Jen is amazing. I love being on the water, the minute we leave our dock the stress melts away.

If you could meet any well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why? Princess Diana. She was so charitable and was the pinnacle of grace and style. Such an iconic woman in history.

What is Boston’s best-kept secret? Cynthia Britt on Newbury Street. Cynthia creates bespoke pieces customized to your individual style and taste. I am obsessed with her handmade gems. My emerald-cut engagement ring is my favorite piece of jewelry.

What do you love most about the industry? The ability to change someone’s life. Real estate has such an impact on a person’s life.

How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents? My renovation experience is essential on Cape Cod, I understand the process and have the professional contacts to get whatever project you may desire completed. I am a local source with the best resources.

What is the most difficult aspect of your job? Right now the inventory levels are challenging, buyers are struggling to find quality homes. This is where my renovation experience can be invaluable. Most homes in my market are older and will need updating.

What’s your best advice for generating new leads? Referrals are your best resource, don’t be a secret agent. Stay in touch with your clients before, during, and after the transaction. They are a valuable tool, and if you give them the best service they will remain loyal, and refer their friends and family.

What has been your greatest accomplishment? Successfully flipping distressed properties, creating a home that a family can create life-long memories. I take pride in my ability to seek out the worst house on the street and make it shine. I have done two homes on the same street in a beachside neighborhood. The worst homes on the street are now the best homes on the street.

What are you binge-watching/reading/listening to lately? Binging “The Resident” on Netflix, I would never want to be a doctor, too much blood. I love reading on the Libby app, I like Elin Hilderbrand novels, she writes about Nantucket.

What’s your favorite meal in Boston? A great steak at Abe & Louie’s and a chilled glass of Sancerre.

Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Boston? The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum

What’s the weirdest thing that’s ever happened to you on the job? Having the seller stay in the home during the home inspection and mixing up cocktails at 10 a.m. in the morning. Yikes, that was a rough one.

What’s one thing people are surprised to learn about you? I have been restoring a 100-year-old gingerbread cottage on Martha’s Vineyard.

What is your favorite vacation spot and why? I love Italy, the food, the culture, the architecture, the history all amaze me!

In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the industry? Learn your local market inside and out! Don’t be hard on yourself, this is a hard business.

What’s your favorite real estate iPhone/Android app? Flexmls pro, I check the hot sheet all day, and it makes it easy to share properties with my clients. They wonder if I sleep!
