Anthony S. Bruno Real Estate Broker, Encore Realty

What was your most interesting job before going into real estate? For me, it was always about real estate. While I was in high school, I passed the real estate exam and became a licensed agent. I recently passed the Brokers exam and became one of the youngest brokers in Massachusetts history

Where did you grow up? I grew up with two loving parents and an older brother in East Walpole, MA.

Growing up, what did you want to be? As a young teen, I wanted to be in the culinary field. When I was in sixth grade I loved to bake and wanted to devote the rest of my life to it. I even went and tried out for Master Chef junior in New York– the audition team loved me but my Mom deemed it too much time away from school.

What do you do to relax when you’re stressed? Since I operate in the real estate field while being fully enrolled in college, you rarely find me not stressed. I do meditate in my free time to bring my levels down.

If you could meet any well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why? I’m one who says that we shouldn’t meet our heroes, so I would elect to meet someone who is no longer living. I think that I would love to meet Malcolm X, due to his nature and demeanor. I have always considered myself a leader in whatever I do, and I think Malcolm led with a certain charge that is unmatched

What is Boston’s best-kept secret? See, most would say the North End, which isn’t a wrong answer. I’m a sucker for a roof deck. I have a couple that I sneak up to every now and then to catch a sunset or a sunrise in my free time. Truly relaxing

What do you love most about the industry? I love how high-energy it is. I’m super energetic so as soon as I come across a lead or get to submit an offer/deal, I’m wicked excited.

How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents? I think my age is what sets me apart the most. Some would say that because I’m the youngest or because I’m “inexperienced” that I am doing myself a disservice. I think the total opposite, and most people tend to be floored when they find out how successful I am in the industry at such a young age.

What is the most difficult aspect of your job? I would have to say the time between when a showing is supposed to start and when the client actually shows up. With traffic Boston can be a tough city to get from point A to point B in, but I’m one who always believes that you should be 5 minutes early no matter what.

What’s your best advice for generating new leads? Guerrilla Marketing– if you can go to a campus or actively engage your target market by going there and passing out flyers or spreading the word, that’s how you get it done. In regards to sales, it’s networking.

What has been your greatest accomplishment? I think it would be a tie between completing the largest rental deal in company history and becoming the youngest Real Estate Broker in Massachusetts History

What are you binge-watching/reading/listening to lately? “Suits.”

What’s your favorite meal in Boston? Give me a large cheese pizza anywhere and I’m happy.

Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Boston? 113 Beacon St. is my favorite building in the world. It is an apartment building that used to be owned by Rockefeller. When it was sold and remodeled, the architect redesigned it based on the illusion of space. All of the apartments are filled with mirrors, making each room seem twice as big as it really is. It’s truly a masterpiece

What’s the weirdest thing that’s ever happened to you on the job? When you do rental showings in occupied units, sometimes you walk in on things that you wish you did not. This is why I knock five times on every closed door. I will leave it at that

What’s one thing people are surprised to learn about you? My age. It doesn’t help that I have a baby face, so some people still think I am in high school.

What is your favorite vacation spot and why? Charleston, South Carolina. Truly gorgeous. The beaches are so pure that you can’t find a rock anywhere. When you do reach down to try and find a rock, you find a sand dollar instead. One day when I make it big, I will have a summer house there.

In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the industry? Keep Swimming, we won’t let you drown.

What’s your favorite real estate iPhone/Android app? Hubspot, my company’s CRM

Who are your favorite people to follow on social media? GaryVee and Tom Brady
