My Style: Alice K. Miles, Realtor, Coldwell Banker, Brookline

by Boston Agent

Alice-K-Miles

Alice K. Miles is a Realtor with Coldwell Banker in Brookline

Number of years in real estate: Five and a half

Describe your look: Lots of black with pops of bright colors in edgy but classic silhouettes, plus tons of layered accessories. I love a cool texture or textile and mixing prints in unique ways; vintage jewelry is my ultimate weakness.

What do you consider a “fashion don’t”? Clothing that’s too tight, too trendy, does not fit the person’s body type, or looks uncomfortable. Also, I’m not a fan of mixing pieces from different seasons.

What is your favorite piece of clothing and why? That’s a tough one. I have many favorites, but I would probably say my leather motorcycle jacket – it works with everything, and has just the right amount of an edgy vibe fit for any occasion. I probably should have worn it today.

What do you consider a must-have accessory? Preferably, it’s something personal that means something to you, but I would say a must-have for me is anything that’s a unique statement piece, like an oversized vintage cuff bracelet, for example. But really, as cliche as it is, the ultimate must-have accessory is confidence…and of course, a plethora of Apple gadgets to keep real estate deals going.

Where are your favorite places to shop? I shop anywhere and everywhere, and never with a list. I’m more of a curator, always looking out for something unique that I really love. My favorite thing lately is to shop via Instagram. There are so many amazing European small businesses that have truly amazing pieces, both clothing and accessories wise, that are truly special, made in small lots, and often by hand. It helps that I speak Russian, so you can always find me stalking the little boutiques in Ukraine for new designs.

What, besides your wardrobe, completes your look? Definitely my eyewear. I have to wear these every day, so much thought goes into picking out a new pair. My recent favorites are by Claire Goldsmith (granddaughter of the iconic Oliver Goldsmith), and the vintage collection by the brand Etnia Barcelona. Vizio Optic in Brookline Village has absolutely the best eyewear selection and service, hands down.

What is in your bag/briefcase? iPad mini, wallet, leather catchall with lipgloss, a tin of organic candy, measuring tape, and a tiny toy horse named “happy horse” (he goes everywhere), a little notebook, fun pens, eco hand sanitizer, and a water bottle.

My closet is full of…scarves, shoes, and a huge cabinet of jewelry and accessories. The rest comes and goes.

What is your style advice for other people in the industry? Be true to yourself and own it. Invest in classic pieces, and do not get sucked in by trends that you feel uncomfortable in or do not look good on you. Dress how you want to be perceived.
