Agent Snapshot: Lesley Smith, Realtor, Waterfield Sotheby’s International Realty, Charlestown

Lesley-Smith-waterfield

Lesley Smith is a Realtor with Waterfield Sotheby’s International Realty working in Charlestown and Melrose.

What was your first job in the realty industry? Century 21 Elite Realty, Charlestown.

Where did you grow up? Charlestown.

Growing up, what did you want to be? A spy.

What do you do to relax when you’re stressed? Shut the phone off and go for a long walk.

If you could have lunch with a well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why? Tough question to narrow it down to one person. Ultimately, I think I would have to go with Cleopatra, because I am obsessed with Egyptian history and specifically with her life story.

Where is your favorite place to hang out? The Warren Tavern, Charlestown.

What do you love most about the industry? Interacting with people. Everyday is something different and I have been fortunate to have wonderful clients.

How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents? As cliche as it sounds, I really do try to go above and beyond for my clients. Whether it is shoveling out walkways for showings or simply paying attention to the details. I also think communication is key with both the clients and the other agents involved in a transaction.

What is the most difficult aspect of your job? Working with another agent in a transaction who does not pay attention to details (i.e misses deadlines, forms filled out incorrectly, can not manage client’s expectations, etc.).

Where do you go to network and meet new clients? Everywhere I go is an opportunity to network: my kids schools, soccer games, restaurants etc.

What has been your greatest accomplishment? Raising three wonderful children.

What was the last good movie you saw or book you read? Anything by David Sedaris.

What is your favorite restaurant? Capitol Grille.

Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Boston? The Custom House.

What kind of car do you drive? Nissan Pathfinder.

Smartphone or paper? Smartphone.

What is your favorite city after Boston? Charleston, S.C.

In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the industry? Don’t be afraid to ask for help from other agents.

What’s your favorite real estate iPhone/Android app? Dotloop.

Who are your favorite people to follow on Twitter? Anyone on Bravo TV.
