When it comes to meeting the needs of borrowers, Sammy Iliopoulos is flexible and always accessible to clients. “I have been known to take applications over the phone in airports thousands of miles away,” says Iliopoulos, a senior loan officer with Guaranteed Rate who has 18 years of experience in the industry. “I’ve put together a great team who can adapt to the specific needs of the loan, market and borrower’s circumstances.”
As team lead, Iliopoulos aims to inspire a strong work ethic among his teammates and foster a united approach to serving clients. “Each person on the team has their own role,” he says. “But they also are quick to come together and help each other out, which, as an individual, this is a characteristic you either have or you don’t.”
Ranked among the top 1% of mortgage originators in America by the Scotsman Guide for the past several years, Iliopoulos recently hit another career high: He and his team made the Chairman’s Circle, an exclusive classification for Guaranteed Rate’s top-producing loan officers. “When we reached that milestone, I stepped back and realized how much larger the volume my team was now processing,” he says. “Yet it hadn’t affected the quality or attention to detail of our files. Knowing my team and I could grow in the right direction was a proud moment!”
Knowing that a one-size-fits-all approach does not work, Iliopoulos begins the process by asking clients how they prefer to communicate — by phone, text or email — and what their goals are. “It’s interesting how that question helps the borrower and me at the same time,” he says. “You need the loan product to match the borrower’s goals.”
Active in Newton’s Business Networking International chapter and his local Greek Orthodox community, Iliopoulos also enjoys golfing, reading and traveling the world.
