Shant Banosian, Branch Manager

Guaranteed Rate

A chance meeting with a friend 19 years ago changed the course of Shant Banosian’s career. Banosian, a branch manager at Guaranteed Rate, had just been accepted to law school when he saw a friend at the gym who was a loan originator. “It sounded like a great job to get me through law school,” he says. “Once I started, I fell in love with it and never looked back.”

Growing up, Banosian helped out at his father’s business, learning a work ethic that prepared him for a career in lending. “My dad taught me there’s always something you can be doing and no second should be wasted,” he says. That mindset has paid off: Since 2015, Banosian has ranked as the No. 1 loan officer nationally at Guaranteed Rate. He’s also been honored by the Scotsman Guide, Mortgage Executive Magazine and Boston Agent for his achievements statewide and nationwide.

Banosian takes a consultative approach with each client to understand their goals, needs and motivation for purchasing or refinancing. To avoid surprises, he educates them on the process and financial obligations of a mortgage, and he’s available 24/7 to answer questions.

Despite the pandemic, Banosian’s team hit $1 billion in funded loan volume in less than a year. “In helping thousands of buyers over the past several years, we’ve learned from what goes wrong and what goes right, constantly implementing what we learn to continuously improve the borrower experience,” he says. The team’s business style is reflected in its core values: win as a team, always improve, do whatever it takes and care about people.

To give back, the team supports the Guaranteed Rate Foundation, recently spearheaded a St. Jude Walk/Run for New England and is heavily involved with the Greater Boston Food Bank. Banosian resides in Belmont with his wife and three daughters.
