Amanda George Senior Sales Associate, Century 21 Shawmut Properties, Boston (Brighton)

What was your most interesting job before going into real estate? Working as a nail technician.

Where did you grow up? Woburn, Massachusetts

Growing up, what did you want to be? A crime scene investigator.

What do you do to relax when you’re stressed? A day at the spa.

If you could meet any well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why? It changes all the time! But my famous crush has always been Anderson Cooper, so that would be so awesome!

What is Boston’s best-kept secret? Bay Village.

What do you love most about the industry? It changes every day. No two transactions are the same, so you are constantly learning, evolving and making new friendships along the way

How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents? Working as a team with my husband allows us to both be very involved in aspects of the deal. It’s great to have a true teammate so we can provide unmatched service to all our clients. What’s better than two people for the price of one?

What is the most difficult aspect of your job? Delivering bad news. It’s never easy to tell someone something they didn’t expect or want to hear, but it’s important to be transparent with all our clients.

What’s your best advice for generating new leads? Share your passion with everyone you meet. You never know where the conversation will take you, and when others sense how much you love what you do, they will naturally gravitate toward you.

What has been your greatest accomplishment? Joining the other Centurions of Century 21! Being in their top 25 nationwide was such an honor, and it pushes me to want to do more.

What are you binge-watching/reading/listening to lately? “The Handmaid’s Tale!” And I’ve been really into real estate and investing podcasts too.

What’s your favorite meal in Boston? Well, it may not be a meal, but it’s certainly big enough to eat alone. The crab and black truffle gnocchi at Mastro’s.

Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Boston? I LOVE the Old South Church

What’s the weirdest thing that’s ever happened to you on the job? An agent once wrote an offer on a condo I was selling and she put the wrong unit number on it. It was new construction and there were six units in the building, so it went unnoticed until about two weeks before closing! I was glad not to be the buyers agent on that one!

What’s one thing people are surprised to learn about you? That I love going to the dentist. It doesn’t bother me at all, I’d go more often if I could!

What is your favorite vacation spot and why? Saint Lucia. It’s calm, beautiful and the flight’s not too far.

In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the industry? Stick with it, success comes with time and experience.

What’s your favorite real estate iPhone/Android app? DocuSign

Who are your favorite people to follow on social media? Bigger Pockets, Eagle Hill Homes, Architectural Digest.
