Agent Snapshot: Melissa Mayer, Realtor, SUCCESS Real Estate, Canton

5653780ba4984cb37152b6ae_1448310863_photoWhat was your first job in the realty industry? SUCCESS! in 2015

Where did you grow up? Canton, MA

Growing up, what did you want to be? No idea, who really knows what they wanted to be when they were growing up? I wanted to be successful and happy with my career choice.

What do you do to relax when you’re stressed? Yoga and running

If you could have lunch with a well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why? Tom Brady of course! He is a leader, on and off the field.

Where is your favorite place to hang out? My home, with family and friends having dinner

What do you love most about the industry? The connection to people. Every day I have the opportunity to help someone.

How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents? Energy, drive and passion. I make the process fun and exciting, and I make sure that my buyers and sellers understand the process from the beginning to the end. I know that most of the really great agents out there do the same thing, but I know in my short tenure that my level of customer service is setting the bar in the local market.

What is the most difficult aspect of your job? Balance. Making sure that I take the time for my family and myself. Sometimes if you don’t set boundaries up front the lines become very blurry and you find yourself doing more for the client you closed on three months ago than your own husband.

Where do you go to network and meet new clients? Social media and my own community of events. I send reminders via texts to my family and friends that say, “Hey, I’m in real estate and I’m good at what I do, so hire me.” LOL.

What has been your greatest accomplishment? I closed over 19 transactions before the end of 2016.

What was the last good movie you saw or book you read? “The Girl on the Train.” I can’t wait for the movie!

What is your favorite restaurant? Sweet Basil in Needham of course!

Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Boston? The Boston Public Library

What kind of car do you drive? A Ford Edge – it gets me from Point A to Point B, it’s great on gas and good in the snow.

Smartphone or paper? Smartphone

What is your favorite city after Boston? NYC

In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the industry? This is not a part-time gig. Can it be done part time? Of course, but if you want to truly serve and make a living, you have to be all in! Be organized, follow up and be direct with your clients.

What’s your favorite real estate iPhone/Android app? I’m still looking for one!

Who are your favorite people to follow on Twitter? Lauren Beckham Falcone- WROR 105.7 LB!
