What was your first job in the realty industry? I started as part of a real estate team in a top real estate company in Los Angeles.
Where did you grow up? I was born and raised in Colombia, South America, and moved to United States in my late teens.
Growing up, what did you want to be? A dancer. I was always part of a folkloric Colombian dance group when I was growing up.
What do you do to relax when you’re stressed? I play and laugh with my daughter, Isabella. She makes me relax and smile instantly. I have found that keeping grateful helps me keep stress low.
I love cooking as well. I like to try new recipes for my family, especially trying to swap ingredients for healthier ones.
If you could have lunch with a well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why? Jim Rohn, my favorite author. I have learned a lot from his personal development books and seminars. I would love to have a one on one with him.
If I can pick someone else it would be Guy Fieri from the Food Network. I love his story, his recipes, his personality and his show “Diners, Drive-ins and Dives” is my favorite.
Where is your favorite place to hang out? I love to hang out at home with my husband and daughter. When out, I love Harvard Sq, Public Garden and parks around my home.
What do you love most about the industry? I feel privileged to be part of one of the most meaningful moments for families – owning a home. It’s where families gather to create memories for a lifetime.
It is a blessing to be part of the different changes a family goes through in life: downsizing, bigger homes, children, empty nest, investments, etc.
How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents? I distinguish myself from other agents through continuous commitment to my clients, always following up in a timely fashion, keeping apprised of the latest updates in the industry and relentlessly working to obtain the best results for my clients; and that commitment goes well beyond the transaction. I consistently follow up with my clients, making sure they are enjoying their new homes and providing updates about changes to the market.
Also, I distinguish myself as a bilingual agent, speaking both English and Spanish fluently, allowing me to bring more buyers and sellers together, which is the essence of my job.
What is the most difficult aspect of your job? My job demands honesty – telling sellers how much the property is actually worth at times when they believe it is worth more than the market suggests and requiring a delicate balance of meeting sellers wishes with the reality of market comparables. I refuse to sell my clients false promises, but also I promise to work my hardest to get them everything their property is worth. For buyers, honesty is just as much needed, helping them make a realistic assessment of the kind of home that is within their budget while securing for them what is most important on their wish list.
Where do you go to network and meet new clients? I have found that the best way to meet new clients is through my past clients, who refer their family and friends. My commitment to keeping in contact with my clients reminds them of the service I provided them, and helps them to think of me when family and friends are looking to buy or sell.
Opportunities to meet new clients are abundant. It may be the mother I meet at my local playground or grocery store that I strike up a conversation with or the person next to me at the gym, new to the area.
What has been your greatest accomplishment? One of my greatest professional accomplishments is receiving the “Customer Service Award” at my company numerous times. These awards are very meaningful to me because they acknowledge how much my clients value my service to them.
In my personal life, my greatest accomplishment is my family: my husband who respects and supports my work and our daughter Isabella, who makes me feel even more passionate and in love with my life.
Another significant accomplishment in my life has been receiving the “Volunteer of the Year” award by the Make-a-Wish foundation for the number of wishes I helped grant during 2010, making it onto their Hall of Fame. I enjoy my volunteer work with this organization very much.
What was the last good movie you saw or book you read? Book: “Catholicism” by Father Robert Barron.
Movie: The Lego Movie – great message.
What is your favorite restaurant? Full Moon in Cambridge. I love that they are child friendly and their food is amazing. I also enjoy Macchu Piccu in Somerville, which serves awesome Peruvian food.
Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Boston?
Massachusetts State House in Beacon Hill.
What kind of car do you drive? Toyota Rav4.
Smartphone or paper? Both. I am tech savvy but if my clients prefer paper, I do that as well.
What is your favorite city after Atlanta? Cambridge. If I can choose a second city, it’s Rockport. My husband and I celebrated our U.S.A. wedding ceremony there.

What’s your favorite real estate iPhone/Android app? Raveis app. The best real estate app of the industry. Now offering “Ravestimate.” The newest addition to Raveis.com will allow consumers the opportunity to receive an estimate of any home in the Northeast, using a combination of historical MLS data and public records.
Who are your favorite people to follow on Twitter? On social media, I like to follow clients, friends, entrepreneurs, personal development magazines, fitness gurus, chefs and parenthood related topics.
