What was your first job in the realty industry? I started my real estate career with Penrose Realty in the South End.
What do you do to relax when you’re stressed? I really enjoy being out on a boat in the ocean when I am stressed. Boston has a short boating season so I also find exercising a good way to relieve my stress.
Where did you grow up? I grew up in Hingham, MA. A suburb about 20 miles south of Boston.
Growing up, what did you want to be? Growing up I was not exactly sure what I wanted to do. I always loved sports and wanted to work with one of the Boston teams. I ended up interning for the Red Sox in college and realized working for a professional sports team was not for me.
If you could have lunch with a well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why? I love Million Dollar Listing New York. I would love to sit down with Frederick, Ryan or Luis to pick their brain and to hear how they have become so successful.
Where is your favorite place to hang out? My friends and I love going out to different places in Boston. Lately, we tend to go to Lincoln Tavern and down by the waterfront. In the summertime I spend a lot of time down in Hingham.
What do you love most about the industry? I really love the fast paced culture. I see real estate as more of a game and a fun activity. The motivation to have untapped commission drives me to work hard and be the best I can be.
How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents? I focus on marketing myself. I am big into twitter, facebook, google+ and instagram. Also, I try to be out and about in the community.
What is the most difficult aspect of your job? Definitely the most difficult aspect of my job is my age. When I meet with people to list a home or represent them it is one of the first things people ask me. I have to convince them that I study the market, have had success and most importantly will work my tail off for them.
Where do you go to network and meet new clients? I am fortunate that I grew up in the area, went to Boston University and have a large network of friends and family that live in the greater Boston area. I meet a lot of people through my natural network which is great.
What has been your greatest accomplishment? My greatest accomplishment to date is helping some of my good friends find new homes. It is a great feeling when you see how excited they are to become first-time home buyers.
What was the last good movie you saw or book you read? Next Generation Real Estate by Brandon DeSimone. I recommend this book to anyone I know looking to buy or sell within the next six months.
What is your favorite restaurant? I have a few. I am sort of a foodie. In Boston, I really enjoy 224 Boston Street in Dorchester and Cinquecento in the South End. Back home I love Da Lat in Hull. Best sushi I have ever had.
Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Boston? I don’t have a favorite specific building in Boston but I do love the classic brownstones that line the streets in Back Bay, Beacon Hill and the South End.
What kind of car do you drive? I drive an old Acura MDX. I am not a huge car person and enjoy SUVs.
Smartphone or paper? I love my smartphone but I still use a pen and paper a lot. It is easier and I tend to remember things more when I write them down.
What is your favorite city after Boston? I would have to say Miami is my second favorite city. It is so different compared to Boston. You really don’t feel like you are in the United States when you are down there.
In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the industry? Stay positive, don’t give up and be patient.
What’s your favorite real estate iPhone/Android app? Twitter is my favorite. Right now I am working on getting my real estate business tied into instagram more with Pic Stich and Flipagram.
Who are your favorite people to follow on Twitter? I love following Bredon DeSimone and InmanNext for real estate advice. I love sports so I follow a lot of reporters and networks.
