Patrick J. Murphy IV, Partner

Harris & Murphy LLP

A member of the Real Estate Bar Association and the Town of Belmont Board of Assessors, real estate lawyer Patrick J. Murphy IV is an expert at client communication. His clients leave a closing understanding all aspects of their transaction, confident that they’ve gotten the best-possible results and his referral partners appreciate the great lengths he takes to be sure each client turns into more referrals for both his firm and his referral partners.

A lifelong Massachusetts resident, Murphy grew up in Belmont and spent summers in Scituate and on Cape Cod. His wife is from the North Shore. “Spending my entire life in these areas and getting to know them through my wife has allowed me to know and enjoy these markets,” he says.

Murphy’s father is a Realtor, so following in his footsteps felt like a natural fit. “I love the excitement a person has when they are buying and selling, and I love the fact that most transactions are a happy occasion,” he shares. “What makes me love the area of real estate law is the joy clients get whether buying or selling their first, second or additional properties.”

Having been in practice for over 22 years, Murphy understands the issues that commonly come up with various types of real estate transactions. However, the thing that really sets him apart from other real estate lawyers is how much he cares for his clients and his communication with them and his referral partners.

“I have done closings in the delivery room of hospitals, at Logan Airport before a client boarded a flight, at 4 a.m. before a client went into the hospital to deliver a baby, and at midnight as the clients worked opposite shifts and couldn’t take time off work,” he recalls. “Being readily available for clients and Realtors keeps them comfortable and encourages them to continue using me and my firm.”
