Though her start in mortgage lending was serendipitous, Olga Laffitte has found the ideal expression of her skills in her role as a loan officer. She accepted an opportunity to switch careers from the hospitality field, then worked for one of the largest lenders in Puerto Rico, and gained a wealth of experience in multiple segments of the industry here in Boston before landing with her current company. In addition to her vast mortgage cycle experience in areas such as underwriting, quality control, processing and general mortgage accounting, Laffitte credits her marketing degree for having provided the foundational skills that facilitate her success.
With 17 years in lending and equipped to serve both English- and Spanish-speaking clientele, Laffitte focuses on both purchases and refinances using conventional and government loan programs. She interacts with all her clients in a personalized fashion, navigating the financing process in an informative and caring way.
Proud to have doubled her production over the past year, Laffitte finds the majority of her clients through referrals. “I really enjoy what I do,” she says. “Being part of making the American dream of owning a home possible for hardworking families is a privilege.” A tactic she employs to make the mortgage lending cycle seamless is early qualification — she obtains preapproval at the onset of the process, which helps set client expectations moving forward.
A single mom and full-time caretaker of her son, Laffitte is a member of the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals and is also active with a nonprofit organization serving autistic children and their families. In her spare time, she enjoys spinning and artistic endeavors including writing, painting and playing musical instruments.
