Fairway Independent Mortgage Corporation’s 2019 Rookie of the Year, Lucas McGary strives to create the best possible mortgage experience in Boston. As a mortgage advisor going into his fourth year, he has helped hundreds of buyers purchase their first homes.
A former sales manager, McGary transitioned to mortgage advising after 15 years of working with one of Boston’s top moving companies, helping the business grow from a small startup to nearly 100 employees. “I always had a passion for providing top-notch service and wanted to branch out from the moving world to a different part of the real estate transaction,” he explains, adding that his adaptability, determination and attentiveness have been fundamental to his new role. “There is nothing more important to a client than communication,” he insists.
In 2021, McGary served over 155 families and closed $73 million in loans for the year, placing him among the top 1% of mortgage originators in the nation. “Every client, no matter what, gets the same overview of the process,” he says. “There is always a 30-to-45-minute consultation to go over their goals so they know I have their best interests in mind. I truly try and establish a relationship with each and every client so we can work together as a team, not separately, to make their homebuying goal possible.”
Twice a month for the past two years, McGary has co-led workshops for first-time homebuyers, enabling hundreds to enact their real estate dreams. He’s a board member of the Alex’s Team Foundation, which raises funds to fight childhood cancer, and his true passion is spending time with his wife and two daughters at their house in Maine.
