Learning the business from the ground up, Craig Barber stepped into the mortgage industry immediately after graduating college in 2003. Since then, he’s catapulted up the ranks into his current role as sales manager and senior mortgage advisor at Fairway Independent Mortgage Corporation.
“Once I realized I was building a career helping people, lending became so much more than just a job,” he says, noting that he began originating full time in 2007 and now concentrates on first-time homebuyers and jumbo loan borrowers. “I believe the strategy we have put in place has allowed me to provide education upfront, preparing all borrowers for the process and what to expect once they decide to buy a home,” he says. “We always say a well-originated loan closes itself.”
Ranked among the top 1 percent of mortgage originators by Mortgage Executive magazine from 2012 to 2018 and named a top originator by Scotsman Guide in 2015 and 2018, Barber ensures that his clients obtain a complete understanding of their payment options prior to making an offer, setting them up for a smooth and successful process.
Due to his tenure in the field and reputation for providing white-glove service, Barber has built a referral-heavy business and splits his time between assisting his clients and growing his team. In the past year, he hired two new team members to support his loan officers.
Barber is a member of Business Network International Downtown Boston and a proud husband and father to two children.
