In 2009, only five years after obtaining her real estate license, broker Cecilia Ramirez opened C Realty Corp., despite the odds being against her in a down market. Today, Ramirez’s C Realty assists buyers, sellers and renters and provides notary services.

Located in Winthrop, C Realty serves all areas of Massachusetts, especially Boston, Revere, Lynn, Chelsea, Lawrence, Everett and Methuen. “I do not have a specific market area — the client decides it for me,” Ramirez says. “Wherever they want to buy or sell, I will work with them.”

Ramirez’s typical clients are first-time homebuyers and property investors, many of them Spanish-speaking. She markets herself as “Tu Broker Favorita,” or your favorite broker, and holds free first-time homebuyer seminars in Spanish twice a year. Ninety percent of her clients come via referrals from past clients. “They describe me as honest and patient, a listener, and a teacher,” she says. “Patience is my ability, and knowledge my skill. With those two qualities, I am very successful in this business.”

An Accredited Buyer’s Representative and Seniors Real Estate Specialist, Ramirez has also earned a loss mitigation certification and the Graduate, Realtor Institute designation. “I love professional training,” she says. “I want to know what I’m doing and give clients the best service I can.”

Ramirez emigrated from the Dominican Republic in 1994. She worked in housekeeping in a nursing home and as a dry cleaner while studying English as a second language and computer networking. Her best friend encouraged her to take a real estate class. Another friend, a real estate broker, hired her as an assistant while she prepared for her licensing exam.

A single mother of two adult sons, Ramirez describes herself as an exercise addict. She lifts weights, takes Zumba classes and loves to go dancing with friends.
