Benjamin T. Haywood
Vice President
Berkshire Hathaway Home Services Warren Residential
Seven years ago, Benjamin Haywood closed the first resale at the Mandarin in Boston’s Back Bay, a property worth $2.55 million. He was only 23. In the years since, it’s been success after success for Haywood, who now has over $100 million in transactions to his name. He’s also been honored with numerous awards by Berkshire Hathaway, including the Gold Award in 2015 and being named a Boston’s Top 20 Real Estate Agent in 2014. Haywood prides himself on his honesty, negotiating skills and customer service – a combination that’s paid off for him more than once.
Haywood has been interested in real estate ever since a seventh-grade math project had him design and create a 3D model of his dream home (complete with Olympic-sized swimming pool and basketball court!). He got his license at just 20 years old while still a sophomore at the University of Delaware, and for a decade now, he’s worked with a wide range of different properties. More recently, Haywood has helped buyers find homes in some of the area’s hottest new construction developments, such as Millennium Tower, One Dalton and soon to be Pier 4. “Boston is now a top international destination, and our market is flourishing because of the shift towards luxury development,” Haywood says, adding that his average sale is over $1 million. Because of his success, Haywood is currently fulfilling a career-dream of developing his own multi-family property. It is located in Chelsea.
Regardless of who the client is, keeping them happy is the name of the game for Haywood. “Buying and selling is stressful enough as it is, so if I can take the stress off my client’s back, then I have done my job,” he says. Haywood’s thoughtful, personable approach helps him cultivate relationships with clients that last long after the deal is closed. “I’m in this game for the long-term, and my goal is to develop a lifetime relationship with all my clients,” he says. “You can rest assured that if you call me in 10 years, even 20 years, I’ll still be buying, selling and developing here in Boston.” When a past client calls with a problem, Haywood is ready. He has what he calls his “life support list,” a handy resource with information on all sorts of issues a client may come across. Whether they’re looking for a trustworthy stove repair company, or are trying to figure out how to arrange a fire escape inspection, Haywood has his clients’ backs.
When not working, Haywood loves to stay active. He coaches the Newton North Varsity Boys Soccer team every fall, an opportunity he says keeps him grounded and allows him to let loose while giving back to the community. He also loves golf and spending summer days in beautiful Westport Harbor with his wife, whom he only just married this past October.
