You could say that Randy Horn was born to work in real estate. He grew up watching his father buy and manage properties, and can’t remember a time in his life when he wasn’t involved in the industry in some way. He got his real estate license at 18, straight out of high school, and since graduating from the University of Colorado at Boulder with a degree in geography, he’s been making waves in the industry.

But while Horn is grateful for having his father as a mentor, his approach to real estate isn’t exactly what you would call “old school.” “I’m a huge fan of social media and the power of being able to share my daily experiences with the world,” he says. “I want clients to see I’m touring new developments with a hard hat, taking classes to sharpen my skills, engaged at a community meeting, and showing million dollar penthouses. This isn’t a nine-to-five job; it’s a lifestyle, and I want to give everyone a glimpse into my life.” By harnessing the power of social media, Horn hopes to influence antiquated perceptions people may have about the industry and defining a typical agent, demonstrating to clients his dynamic, entrepreneurial spirit. Be it online, on the phone or face-to-face, Horn’s success stems in large part from his ability to effectively communicate with clients, learning what they’re looking for and setting expectations from the get-go. “Explaining my reason behind each decision is helpful for the client to understand the approach I take and how it will benefit them,” he says. “My moves are calculated. I’m not ‘winging it’ – that’s not a what a businessman does.” Working with Horn means no surprises, thanks to his methodical system that delivers results, as attested to by the 100-plus five-star Zillow ratings he’s accumulated. Horn says it’s “humbling” to read all the nice things past clients have written about him, but it’s also a key part of his social media strategy that helps attract referrals and new clients. He often asks potential clients: “You read reviews about a new restaurant that opened, so why not do the same when choosing an agent to help you make a much more important decision, like buying a home?”

Horn is a self-described workaholic, but stresses the importance of striking a work-life balance. When he’s not running his real estate business, he loves spending time with his family, traveling and finding unique ways to experience the city he loves – like paddle boarding on the Charles River.

He also helps out with organizations that combat homelessness, since he believes that housing is a necessity that should be accessible to everyone.
