Andrew Marquis
Senior Vice President of Mortgage Lending
Guaranteed Rate
Andrew Marquis has built his 13-year real estate career on a sturdy foundation of knowledge – both of people and numbers. Now the senior vice president of mortgage lending for Guaranteed Rate, he began his rise in the business after graduating with a degree in finance/investments from the University of Massachusetts. He caught on quickly after starting his first job in the industry in 2003, and prides himself on consistently increasing his annual purchase production year after year. He posted his strongest year to date in 2015, and 2016 already projects to be an even bigger year. His competitive drive elevated him to being the No. 2 purchase originator in New England and No. 18 mortgage originator nationwide in 2015.
Growing up, Marquis always showed an interest in numbers and advanced mathematics. It led him to pursue a degree in the field. But while his academic background helps, he knows real estate isn’t just about numbers: it’s about people. “I treat every client as I would want to be treated with efficient and accurate answers to their questions and an understanding of their needs,” he says.
He strives for maximum efficiency, driven by both self-motivation and Guaranteed Rate’s competitive environment, and says his regimented schedules and systems separate him from the competition. Some might treat the job as a hobby, he says, but he’s all business, working early and often to meet deadlines and stay on task. His eye for financial detail helps him identify lending solutions competitors might overlook, using information like credit rescores or income recalculation to qualify loans others might not be able to.
Above all else, he’s about results. “When I say I’m going to do something I do it and I get it done fast. If an agent is looking for consistent, efficient, proven results, they know who to go to,” he says.
Marquis’ clients range from first-time homebuyers to seasoned real estate investors, and he typically serves the Boston and MetroWest markets. His skill with numbers helps him zero in on creative bridge financing solutions to guide clients looking to buy a home and sell their current home.
When he’s not putting in the hours with clients, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two children. He loves the New England Patriots and stays active by biking or going skiing in Vermont. Marquis also gives his time to charitable causes in support of cancer research, childhood illness, and helping the homeless and the troops, particularly through Operation American Soldier.
