The city’s No. 14 ranking comes as little surprise, as Boston has seen strong increases in residential construction spending this year. During the month of September, builders spent more than $515 million on new projects, a massive 77 percent increase year over year, while year to date, spending was up 7 percent to $3.6 billion.
