Rick Baker’s real estate career began as an 18-year-old, while still a senior at St. Sebastian’s School, when he became a real estate appraiser, valuing homes for banks and attorneys. What started as an introduction to real estate soon became a foundation, shaping his understanding of property values and Boston’s diverse neighborhoods.
Over the next 12 years, Baker appraised more than 3,000 properties while earning his bachelor’s degree from Tufts University, a Juris Doctor from Suffolk University Law School and an MBA from Babson College. This background makes Baker one of the most highly educated real estate agents in Massachusetts. “I have found that real estate sales have been the perfect blend of my degrees and skills,” he says.
Now, with 24 years in real estate, he has built a reputation for handling complex transactions, off-market deals and investment properties. Baker’s calm, no-pressure approach helps clients feel confident in their decisions. “The only thing that matters are my client’s goals,” he insists. “The rest is crafting a marketing strategy to get them those results.”
Baker has chosen to focus his real estate business on relationships and not transactions. “Buying or selling real estate is such a personal experience,” he says. “I want clients to feel like family and close friends.” His dedication has also earned him recognition through William Raveis’ Chairman’s Elite Club, South Shore Real Producers’ Top 300 list and the Best of Zillow designation.
Baker and his wife, Leanne, a nurse at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Milton, stay busy raising their two children, Brady and Brooke. He enjoys coaching their sports teams, playing hockey, golfing at Wollaston Golf Club and taking family trips to Disney.
