The opportunity to work with people during the exciting time of buying a home is what drew Jason McCue to the mortgage industry. He found a small mortgage broker office that was willing to give him a shot, and although the commute was long, it was his chance to break into the industry. “I really enjoy making a difference in people’s lives financially,” McCue says. “Sharing information that can have such a significant impact feels great.”
Today, McCue is a nationally recognized mortgage originator with more than 20 years of industry experience. In February 2020, he joined Draper and Kramer Mortgage Corp. as a regional manager at the lender’s Danvers branch, closing $95 million in loans in his first year with the company. Industry publications Scotsman Guide and Mortgage Executive Magazine rank him among the top mortgage originators in the nation based on annual loan volume.
McCue’s approach to working with clients focuses on a transparent process, responsive service and competitive rates. “I take time to explore their options, educate them on the pros and cons of the available alternatives, answer any questions and make their experiences as enjoyable as possible,” he says. His range of specialties include no-mortgage-insurance loans, lender-paid closing costs, physician loans and jumbo mortgages. Most of his business comes from past clients recommending him to their friends and family.
In 2021, McCue’s team doubled its number of loan officers and closed $300 million in loans. Inspired by this success, McCue says he’s focusing on giving back and helping and mentoring those around him. “Seeing my daughter Anaca grow up has reemphasized the importance of equal opportunities for women in business,” he says. “I’m happy to say that the majority of the mortgage bankers on my team are strong, successful women, and as a group, we’ve created an environment where we help each other achieve our highest potential.”
