In the mortgage banking business, trust and reputation are the foundation for success, according to Drew Grandi, Ruby Santos and Randell Reska of HarborOne Mortgage.
“If you can make your clients’ loan process go smoothly and meet the commitments and promises you made, more business will come your way,” they say. “We don’t overpromise results and always work tirelessly on our clients’ behalf.” As a result, they don’t have to do much advertising, because new business comes to them from their real estate partners, attorneys and past clients. “This industry is unique in that we can develop clients for life versus one transaction only,” says Grandi, the team’s regional sales leader.
In 2020, Santos broke the $100 million mark for originations, while Grandi grew his team and achieved a record year for loan volume.
HarborOne’s niche is jumbo portfolio and home equity line of credit products that are priced competitively. With over 50 years of combined experience, the three have seen every type of scenario and are creative when it comes to helping clients meet their needs. They eliminate any surprises upfront by doing a full underwrite on clients’ credit documentation to show them what they can and cannot afford. Clients also appreciate the guidance they provide them during the loan process, from teaching them how to improve their credit scores to showing them strategies to help them buy their dream home.
Active in business and nonprofit organizations, the group members belong to the Greater Boston Association of Realtors, the Builders and Remodelers Association of Greater Boston and the local chamber of commerce. They also volunteer at the Boys & Girls Club of Boston, Dedham Civic Pride and food pantries in the Boston area.
