Besides running in the Athens Marathon three years ago, Savvas Fetfatsidis, vice president of mortgage lending at Guaranteed Rate, also goes the distance for his clients. 2019 was a milestone year for Fetfatsidis, who helped more than 250 people obtain a mortgage and closed over $100 million in loans. In 2020, he closed over $150 million in loans.
“The experience of going to my native country to run the original marathon route with four of my closest friends was hands down my proudest achievement in 2018,” he says. The course he ran was the same one used in the 2004 Summer Olympic Games in Athens. Among his other accomplishments, Fetfatsidis has consistently been named among the top 1% of originators in America since 2013. As a top producer, he also was awarded membership in Guaranteed Rate’s prestigious Chairman’s Circle.
A loan officer for 17 years, Fetfatsidis serves clients from all walks of life. He offers conventional, jumbo, FHA, VA, MassHousing and niche jumbo portfolio loans. Still, he’s always looking for new programs that provide the best terms and opportunities for customers. “I am usually one of the first loan officers to originate a recently released program because of my unrelenting curiosity and passion for learning,” he says. “This not only benefits the customer, but also gives me an edge against the competition.”
Fetfatsidis was drawn to the mortgage industry in college. “Another student in my class was working for a mortgage broker and doing very well while only working part time,” he says. “She convinced me to give it a try, and I fell in love with the industry.”
Married for 16 years, Fetfatsidis enjoys reading, learning the piano with his 14-year-old daughter, doing magic tricks, running and participating in CrossFit. He also donates a portion of his commissions to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
