Listings surge in Massachusetts

by Elizabeth Kanzeg

Single-family home listings jumped 21.4% year over year in March, according to a new report from the Massachusetts Association of REALTORS®.

Despite the statewide inventory shortage, supply is moving in the right direction, MAR said. Condominium listings increased year over year as well, rising 21.2%.

With more sellers listing their homes, Sarah Gustafson, 2025 president of MAR and operating principal and broker for Keller Williams Pinnacle Central and MetroWest, said buyers can expect more options heading into the spring months.

“Although a surge of new listings during the spring months is expected, the year-over-year
increase of new listings is a very positive sign as housing demand continues to exceed supply,”
Gustafson said in a press release. “Inventory will continue to remain a challenge. But with the strong buyer demand, we’re hopeful more inventory will continue to become available. We encourage sellers to get ahead and buyers to stay motivated in their search.”
