Developers Urban Edge and Nuestra Comunidad held a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of 59 Bartlett Station Drive. The development at the historic Bartlett Station site features affordable rentals.
Spanning 49,000 square feet across five stories, 59 Bartlett Station offers 44 apartments, 44 bicycle parking spaces, 33 parking spaces and an indoor community space.
“Having a stable and secure home gives me a sense of peace and comfort,” said resident Jean Francois. “As a person with a disability, it means so much to have an apartment that meets my needs and allows me to live comfortably and independently. I am very grateful to everyone who helped me through this process and made it possible for me to have a safe place to call home.”
59 Bartlett Station’s completion marked a milestone in the larger Bartlett Station development plan. Developers envision a 10-building, 367-unit mixed-use neighborhood on the site of a former MBTA trolley yard. While 59 Bartlett Station will offer rentals, plans for the neighborhood include affordable, moderate-income and market-rate rentals alongside homeownership opportunities and senior housing.
“Housing is the foundation of opportunity, and every new affordable home helps ensure that Boston remains a city where families, seniors and individuals can build their futures,” said Mayor Michelle Wu in a press release. “59 Bartlett Station is the result of years of partnership, community engagement and a shared commitment to making Roxbury a place where longtime residents and future generations can continue to thrive. I am grateful to Urban Edge, Nuestra Comunidad Development Corporation and all of our partners who helped make this vision a reality.”
