Boston Housing Authority, Leggat McCall Properties and Joseph J. Corcoran Company secured funding for a mixed-income apartment building in Boston’s Charlestown neighborhood.
The project, now under construction, represents the first phase of a master plan that will restore local public housing and add a total of 2,699 affordable and market-rate units. BHA, Charlestown Resident Alliance, elected leaders and the Charlestown community will collaborate on the largescale redevelopment effort.
Developers plan to finalize the apartment building’s foundation and begin vertical construction within the next few weeks.
“We are excited to see this reimagined community moving forward for all our Bunker Hill residents,” said Karla Wert, President of the Charlestown Resident Alliance. “New homes will bring a fresh start and outlook to many families and benefit Charlestown for generations to come.”
