For fans and artists alike, Boston offers a music scene worth celebrating. The city is officially a top U.S music hotspot, according to a study from Spin Genie.
The entertainment company used data from World Population Review, LinkedIn and other sources to rank U.S metros based on metrics like musical events, music-related jobs and number of venues.
Boston placed No. 5 nationwide, claiming an overall music hotspot score of 7.96 out of 10 and outperforming traditional hubs like Nashville, Tennessee, and Los Angeles. Atlanta ranked No. 1 nationwide while Miami and New Orleans tied for the No. 2 spot.
Boston performed well in many categories and had a high number of open music-related jobs. Plus, with 125 upcoming music events and 26 venues per 100,000 residents, there’s always a show to enjoy.
Access to musical events, industry jobs and music schools might drive Boston’s high artist population. Over 518 musical artists per 100,000 people call the city home, and, with globally recognized figures and groups like Meghan Trainor, Aerosmith and James Taylor all hailing from the city, there’s clear local star power.
