Boston’s own Betsy Herald was named one of 10 finalists for The National Association of REALTORS® 2025 Good Neighbor Awards. The award recognizes real estate agents for giving back to their local communities.

“Each of these finalists reminds us that the heart of real estate is people and communities,” said NAR President Kevin Sears. “Their efforts go far beyond helping clients buy or sell a home. They are building hope, opportunity and stronger communities every single day.”

Herald co-founded a shelterless dog rescue organization called Great Dog Rescue New England that brings together foster families across New England to care for dogs before placing them in adoptive homes. Her work has saved over 29,000 dogs and raised $1 million for medical care, food and transport for the animals. Her organization also offers employment to women leaving abusive relationships.

Only five finalists will win, each receiving a $10,000 grant for their charity. Other finalists will receive $2,500 grants.

NAR invited the public to vote for finalists as part of a Web Choice Favorite competition. Winners of this bonus contest will receive $2,500 for first place and $1,250 for second and third places. Voting will remain open between Oct. 7 and Nov. 6.

The winners of the Good Neighbor Award and the Web Choice Favorite will be announced Nov. 10.
