Construction set to begin on Dorchester housing project

by Liz Hughes

Construction is set to begin on the development of a city-owned property on Talbot Avenue in Dorchester.

TLee Development LLC was granted a building permit for the residential condo development, approved by the Boston Planning & Development Agency last September.

Once complete, 270 Talbot Ave. will house a four-story building with 18 condominiums. All units will be made affordable and available to households with incomes from 80% to 100% of the area median income, according to Boston Mayor Michelle Wu’s office.

The units will consist of a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom condos with three units designed specifically for individuals with mobility challenges.

The building will also have ground-floor retail space, as well as indoor bicycle storage and open space behind the building.

Originally approved in October 2020 for 21 rental housing units, the developer submitted a notice of project change in July 2022 proposing the change to 18 affordable condo units.
