Jacquelyn Medeiros AVP/Marketing and Business Development Rep

FNF Family of Companies, Boston

What was your most interesting job before going into real estate? That would be a toss up between being a military police officer in the Army National Guard or waiting tables at the 99 Restaurant. I met all sorts of interesting people in both jobs.

Where did you grow up? I grew up in Somerville, MA.

Growing up, what did you want to be? Definitely not a title rep! I actually loved graphic design in my teens when it wasn’t even a thing yet, so I thought I would end up in that field.

What do you do to relax when you’re stressed? Go for a walk or workout or I have a glass of wine.

If you could meet any well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why? I’ve been on a Tony Robbins kick lately, so I would love to be able to sit down and talk to him. His content is so inspiring and uplifting I bet I would learn a lot from him

What is Boston’s best-kept secret? I recently went to the Isabella Stewart Gardner museum I was shocked how much I liked it. I bet most people don’t know you can get free or discounted tickets to most museums in Boston at the local public libraries.

What do you love most about the industry? I absolutely love the people that I work with in real estate. It can be such a stressful business that surrounding yourself with people that make you laugh and lift you up is a game changer.

How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents? I really try to focus more on the people than the numbers. I think you have to have faith that if you treat people well it will come back to you in the end.

What is the most difficult aspect of your job? The title insurance companies audit their attorney agents, so I spend a lot of time clearing up audit issues. Sometimes keeping the client and auditors happy is a delicate balance, so that can get stressful sometimes.

What’s your best advice for generating new leads? Networking is key in this industry. Spend time focusing on making genuine connections with people as opposed to talking to people “looking for a deal.” People will sense you’re coming from a genuine place,\ and those are the conversations that are more likely to get you those leads you’re looking for.

What has been your greatest accomplishment? My greatest accomplishment is raising such a smart and funny 10-year-old girl.

What are you binge-watching/reading/listening to lately? I’ve been binge watching “The Surrogate” on Netflix. It’s a Mexican soap opera I fell into and I can’t believe how much I like it.

What’s your favorite meal in Boston? Lobster. Anywhere.

Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Boston? The Boston Public Library is beautiful.

What’s the weirdest thing that’s ever happened to you on the job? I work with pretty conservative attorneys. One day I went into a law office to meet a prospective client, and he reached under the conference table and pulled out a magic kit. We are talking a black velvet mat, white gloves  the works. Going from having a business conversation to watching a full out magic show that lasted 30 minutes was definitely one of the weirdest meetings I ever had to date.

What’s one thing people are surprised to learn about you? I originally met my husband in the fifth grade!

What is your favorite vacation spot and why? I LOVE Aruba. It’s so beautiful and relaxing. I can’t wait to go back.

In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the industry? NEVER make decisions with your wallet. Do the right thing and money will follow.

What’s your favorite real estate iPhone/Android app? I love the Cap Cut app. There are a ton of great templates that can help you make professional looking videos.

Who are your favorite people to follow on social media? For real estate marketing I really like Chelsea Pietz

What are your social media handles? @jackiebmedeiros
