Douglas Elliman expands Boston footprint with Newbury Street acquisition

by Liz Hughes

Douglas Elliman has opened an office on Newbury Street, following the company’s acquisition of Bulfinch Boston Realty.

The 255 Newbury St. office will be the company’s second in Boston. Along with the acquisition, Bulfinch Boston Realty president and CEO Zechariah Cook joins the company with his team which includes Michael Fedorouk, Ismail Guessous, Stephanie Peter, Lauren Hammer, Felipe Deras and Alicia Ingalls.

“Having led such an esteemed real estate firm, Zechariah has an invaluable sense of the market and a 360-degree business approach,” Scott Durkin, CEO of Douglas Elliman, said in a press release. “We are proud to open our second Boston outpost with this leading team and anticipate great success.”

Cook, who began his real estate career in April 2009, purchased 50% of Bulfinch Boston Realty a year later and sped into a leadership position. He bought out his partner in 2019 to become the brokerage’s sole owner. Since 2016, Cook and his team had more than $200 million in sales and more than $70 million in sales in 2021 alone.

“The team that Zechariah has fostered at Bulfinch Boston Realty is the exact type of talent we look for at Douglas Elliman,” said Richard Ferrari, president and CEO of brokerage, NYC and Northeast Region at Douglas Elliman. “Not only does Zech provide a custom service approach to tend to his clients with care, but he takes the time to educate them on the importance of home ownership and investment as the greatest pathway to wealth creation.”

The Bulfinch Team will serve all of Boston’s neighborhoods as well as the surrounding suburbs.
