Illinois ‘Goth Home’ goes viral — and it’s for sale

by Emily Mack

You’ve heard of Gothic architecture … but what about goth architecture? A certain listing in Lincoln, Ill. is trending for its shocking black exterior. With a black interior to match! It’s already been dubbed the ‘goth home’ by fans of Zillow Gone Wild, a social media page that highlights unique houses for sale.

‘Goth Home’ interior

Located at 110 Edgar Street, 30 miles north of Springfield, the 1,547-square-foot single-family home sits on a green, half-acre lot. With a striking octagon shape, the living room and foyer look round and spacious. The house also has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a fireplace, French doors, a three-car garage, spiral staircase and three skylights — which no doubt brighten up the cool, black interior touches.

Contrary to what you might think, the house doesn’t belong to some mysterious, raven-haired recluse. It’s actually owned by a local real estate agent! According to WGN, Seth Goodman of ME Realty purchased the home in August with plans to renovate and re-sell. Inspired by The Rolling Stones’ “Paint it Black,” Goodman did just that. He also installed the jet-black shingle roof with matching gutters and matching siding.

This spooky piece of real estate is currently listed for $250,000. Goodman and Realtor Matt Garrison, of Keller Williams Capital, are overseeing the sale.
