Peter Fickeisen, Director of Business Development/MLO, Luxury Mortgage Corp., Marshfield

by Liz Hughes

Where did you grow up? I grew up in Sherborn, Massachusetts.

What was your most interesting job before going into lending? Before going into lending I managed pro athletes, marketing and sales for a ski and snowboard helmet company.

What do you do to relax when you’re stressed? I like to listen to music like The Elevators, Stick Figure and Pearl Jam.

If you could meet any well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why? If I could meet any well-known figure it would be Bill Belichick. I’d love to ask him questions about the last 20 years of football and get some real answers. I’d also like to hear how he manages for success time and time again.

Where is Boston’s best-kept secret? The bar at the Four Seasons. They have the best burger!

What do you love most about the industry? What I love most is the grind to win buyers the home of their dreams. When they win the offer, it’s a high-five moment. Who doesn’t like a virtual high-five or fist bump?

What is the most difficult aspect of your job? Getting everyone to have the urgency to get documents to meet expectations. The last thing we like to do is extend any dates in the contract.

What are you binge-watching/reading/listening to lately? I’m currently watching 24 again from start to finish and listening to The Elevators because they are so good!

What’s your favorite meal in Boston? The steak cobb salad at The Capital Grille.

Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Boston? The Prudential. My kids always call it the Eiffel Tower of Boston!

What’s the weirdest thing that’s ever happened to you on the job? One of the weirdest things was when I worked in the Back Bay and the client brought $250,000 in a suitcase to an appointment. She was 75 years old and was taking out her first mortgage. Needless to say, we walked to the bank shortly afterward.

What’s one thing people might be surprised to learn about you? I used to be in a band and I play guitar and sing.

What’s your favorite vacation spot and why? Martha’s Vineyard. It’s been my favorite for 30 years and counting.

In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the lending industry? Sit with the top loan officer in your company! (Mentor)
