by Kasey Chronis

Jack Conway & Co. buys Vanguard Realty

Jack Conway & Company, Massachusetts’ largest independent real estate brokerage, has purchased Vanguard Realty for an undisclosed amount, according to a press release.
The acquisition expands the Conway Cityside brand to five offices across the Boston metro area, which now includes Brookline and Brighton.
“This dynamic merger will bring Vanguard’s strong local reputation and innovation together with Conway’s market-leading expertise and service to more sellers and buyers,” said Jim McGuire, Jack Conway’s new sales manager for both the Brookline and Brighton offices.

Blatz to lead Cape Cod & Islands Association of Realtors’ 2021 Board of Directors

Annie Blatz, a broker at Kinlin Grover, was named president-elect of the Cape Cod & Islands Association of Realtors’ 2020 Board of Directors, the company announced in a press release. She will serve in the president-elect position for a year before taking the lead as board president in 2021.
She is former president of CCIAOR as well as a former president of the Massachusetts Association of Realtors, in 2007 and 2016, respectively.
Blatz has served on numerous committees, task forces and work groups during her 34-year career in the real estate business.
“After a few years working at the state and national levels, I am pleased to be once again participating in the local association with my friends and colleagues,” she said in the press release. “We all know how special this area is, and I am looking forward to great achievements in 2020.”

Zillow bigwig moving on

Zillow’s president of media and marketplaces is parting ways with the listings giant. In a post on LinkedIn yesterday, Greg Schwartz characterized his departure as amicable and praised Zillow’s leadership throughout their continued “reinvention.”

As for his next steps, Schwartz hinted that he may be getting into local politics in his home city of Seattle. “Our city is soaring with the greatest financial, intellectual and innovation boom in history, yet in many areas we have fallen flat. We can do better,” he wrote. “Soon, you will start to hear about a new civic organization with heavyweights from Washington State politics, community advocacy groups and business.” Zillow bigwig moving on
