Last week, Edens LLC filed a project notification form with the Boston Redevelopment Authority that outlines its plan for a new 10-acre development in Dorchester.

Adjacent to Edens’ existing South Bay Center, the new project will feature 113,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space, a 12-screen movie theater, 475 residential units and a 130-room hotel. In its filing to the BRA, Edens explained its goals to continue enhancing the current neighborhood.

“The project will enhance the urban context of the project site by creating active ground-floor retail uses, spaces for outdoor dining, dynamic, pedestrian-oriented publicly-accessible open spaces and streets cape enhancements,” the developer stated. “(Edens) has large existing investment in the neighborhood and endeavors to build a new development that respects its neighbors, increases public amenities, and adds new economic activity to the city of Boston.”
