Samantha Jason, Associate Partner, Realtor, The Residential Group at William Raveis Boston

What was your first job in the realty industry? Marketing Coordinator, Agent

Where did you grow up? Chilmark, Martha’s Vineyard

What do you do to relax when you’re stressed? I love to take my dogs for walks around my neighborhood, especially on warm spring/summer days. In South Boston we can go up to Thomas Park for city views or out to Castle Island

Growing up, what did you want to be? I always wanted to be an equestrian in the Olympics. Sadly, I hardly ever get a chance to go riding anymore.

Where is your favorite place to hang out? I’m not sure I have a favorite, but in the city it would probably be the Boston Public Garden or anywhere on the water/along the Harborwalk. Having grown up on an island makes me partial to the water.

What do you love most about the industry? Meeting new people! I have been lucky enough to have some very brilliant, fun and inspiring clients over the years.

How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents? I try to always make myself available to my clients, I am honest and I know and understand the markets I work within.

What is the most difficult aspect of your job? Right now, it’s managing expectations and helping first time homebuyers navigate this incredibly competitive market.

Where do you go to network and meet new clients? I volunteer quite a bit and I’m a member of a few young professional groups. However, most of my clients come as referrals from past clients – which is a huge compliment.

What has been your greatest accomplishment? My greatest real estate accomplishment would be the first year I closed over 10 million in sales. BUT, I also love to look back on all the five star happy client reviews on my zillow profile

What was the last good movie you saw or book you read? I just finished reading The Girl on the Train! It was a page turner…I cannot wait to see the movie.

What is your favorite restaurant? Douzo…even after all these years. I could eat there weekly.

Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Boston? The Boston Public Library! I especially enjoy sitting in their interior courtyard. If you have not had a chance to take a tour or enjoy lunch in the courtyard I highly recommend it.

What kind of car do you drive? Nothing fancy! Hyundai Tucson.

Smartphone or paper? Smartphone, I can’t imagine doing my job as efficiently without it.

What is your favorite city after Boston? That’s tough! I’d probably have to say Charleston. I love the downtown feel, great shops and restaurants and so much history.

In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the industry?
Learn from the experienced agents in your office. Be persistent. Work harder than your competition. Sorry…that’s more than 10 words, and I could keep going.

What’s your favorite real estate iPhone/Android app? Realtor.com app

Who are your favorite people to follow on Twitter or other social media?
@JoannaGaines from HGTV’s Fixer Upper, I love her style. I also follow @GiveBackHomes which i’m a member of, but I also really enjoy seeing the homes that are being built #forsocialgood from Nicaragua to California.
