For Garett Seney of Fairway Independent Mortgage Corp., loans are more than just business transactions. As he puts it, when securing a loan, “I have always focused on the client, meeting their needs and celebrating them once they close.” In focusing on providing his clients with experience that is both friendly and educational, Seney helped 211 families purchase a home and 105 families refinance in the past two years alone.
Before becoming one of the Scotsman Guide’s top originators in 2021, Seney obtained a master’s in education and worked in athletic administration at the collegiate level, where he gained valuable career skills that carried him forward into his present career as a mortgage advisor. “All my experiences in college athletics have helped me deal with people … I learned very quickly how to limit stress, communicate and explain the process to potential homeowners.” A lover of teamwork, Seney remarks, “I care about the client. I care about the reputation of all parties involved. I do a really good job of explaining the process and setting expectations about the process.”
Giving back to his community is also a consistent focus for Seney, whose favorite causes to contribute to are The Sports Museum in Boston, the Boston vs. Bullies program, and the Rodman Ride for Kids fundraiser. When not working with clients, Seney enjoys spending time with his wife and his son, who was born in September, as well as playing golf and watching baseball.
