Boston one of the most desirable places to move

Over 60% of Americans believe that moving to a new city would improve their lives — and many have their sights set on Beantown for their new hometown.

Using data from a survey of 1,000 Americans, Clever Real Estate ranked the 50 most populous American metros based on desirability. Boston ranked No. 6.

Safety, access to healthcare, strong public transit and good schools helped propel Boston to the top of the list. Despite respondents naming high living costs and taxes as some of the most undesirable traits for a city to have, Boston’s perks outweighed these drawbacks.

Nationwide, survey respondents good cited weather, low crime and affordability as the most desirable qualities for a city to have.

Nashville, Tennessee and Tampa, Florida tied for first place. Seattle, Washington, San Diego, California, Denver, Colorado and Charlotte, North Carolina followed.

“Americans are drawn to places that balance safe, affordable living with lifestyle perks, such as good weather and appealing scenery,” researchers said.
